Rapper and former CEO of AOMG, Simon Dominic finally released his second EP No Open Flames. After the release of his last album in 2018, DARKROOM: roommates only, and his participation of features. many fans were excited to see him releasing music again.
All of the songs on the album were released throughout August and September, with accompanying music videos as well.
In early August, Dominic stepped back on the scene with a teaser of the song DAx4, which is the first song that heard from the album. The song really shows his listeners his style with his strong tone.
He also released Make Her Dance, featuring Loopy and Crush. The song has an upbeat club vibe, which is something that Dominic wanted to poetry although he mentioned he has never been out clubbing before.
The final 3 songs songs included Yummda, Y2K92, Jvcki Wai and Woo Wonjae. In the mix of promoting his comeback album, him and his label mates AOMG pioneered their new show “Sign Here”. The concept is similar to other rap survival shows like “Show Me The Money” or “Unpretty Rapstar”. The major difference is the winner of the show will be signed to AOMG, spearheaded by Jay Park.
One of the messages that Dominic wanted to convey with this album is "Real rappers never die". In an interview wih HIPHOPLE, he mentioned that speculators questioned his ability to sustain his popularity dispite all the hardships that he faced. He responded that music is the one passion that he would never let go of. He stressed that he has no time to read online comments from haters.
Overall, I'm super excited to listen to this album. Knowing the struggles that Simon has been though in the last years, it is refreshing to see him making music that he wants to make and that he's proud of.
