Today marks the fourth anniversary of the release of One Direction’s fifth album Made in the A.M. Four years ago , the band released this album eight months after Zayn Malik’s departure from the band. It debuted No. 2 on Billboard Hot 200 and sold over 2.4 million copies worldwide. The album’s lead single Drag Me Down is on its way to 1 billion views as it sits at 819M views currently. This will be their second song to reach 1B views after their debut single What Makes You Beautiful surpassed 1B views back in November 2018. History is another song which was essentially a love letter to fans for sticking by their side throughout their journey as a band.
The hashtag #4YearsOfMitam began trending on Twitter as fans came together to rejoice those good old memories of the band. Former 1D member Liam Payne also took to both Twitter and Instagram to celebrate 4 years since the release of Made In The A.M.
He posted the album cover art with the caption “ Happy 4 years made in the am honestly one of my fave albums we made … also 4 years in and I finally learned how to look towards the camera not away from it”
To top it off , Harry Styles recently announced his 2020 tour in support of his upcoming album Fine Line .Though this may not be related to Made In The A.M’s fourth anniversary , fans are taking this as an addition to the overall celebration. It is also rumoured that Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson might be performing together at the Premios Telehit 2019 in Mexico tonight but only time will tell if this is true or not.
