This August 11 BigHit Entertainment released a note to fans regarding BTS’ first-ever break since the group’s debut.
After years of non-stop hard work and dedication, breaking all sorts of unimaginable records, becoming UNICEF ambassadors, taking social media by storm and helping spread the Korean culture through their music as well as inspiring messages to their fans, the boys are finally set to get some rest following their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world stadium tour.
Despite what some news outlets might report, BTS’ ARMY has shown nothing but gratitude and relief since the announcement, taking to Twitter to trend hashtags worldwide such as #RestWellBTS and #HappyVacationBTS, both appreciating the well-deserved break as well as – per ARMY’s trademark – making light fun of what will be of the fandom until the boys return.
But fear no more! As the boys enjoy their private time off, the fans seem to have encountered their first project to keep themselves occupied, and it’s nothing short of a fan-released comeback.
ARMYs have started organizing a fandom initiative to raise streams for BTS’ “DNA” M/V, the group’s most viewed music video up until now with over 800M views on the platform. The goal is to help the video reach the 1 billion views mark, making it the group’s first to achieve such milestone.
Fans are also hopeful BTS might break yet another YouTube record by being the first k-pop group to hit 1B views, despite being over 100M behind the leaders in the run: Blackpink’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU”.
The BTS ARMY is certainly not giving up, however. Joining forces with fan accounts all over the world to fight for the title, the stream party is set to start on August 17 at 9pm KST, with an initial goal of 10M views on “DNA” M/V in 24 hours. The fans should not only stream the music video, but also be vocal on Twitter adding the keywords “THE POWER OF GLOBAL ARMY” to their tweets, so fans can encourage each other and also help share the initiative.
Update and vote accounts have already started spreading the word, sharing the project’s main account @DNAComeback1B with their followers in hopes of increasing awareness and getting the ARMY ready for the fight in a few days. Countries such as Brazil, Korea, Indonesia, Peru, Chile, Spain, Vietnam, Portugal, Mexico, and many more have translated the news to the fans, truly counting on global ARMY’s power.
Not only have Twitter ARMY started preparing, but the news also moved to BigHit's fan platform, Weverse.
The news managed to break into the trending topics of the app, reaching the 1st position only hours after being shared.
If one thing is certain, is that the BTS ARMY does not sleep on their jobs. While the boys are away, the fandom will continue to show their unmeasured support so that they have the best reception once they do come back.
But how about you guys? Will you be joining the mass stream event, and if so, where from? Leave your opinions on the comments below!
